YLANG YLANG EXTRA

YLANG YLANG EXTRA

Fragrant with night flowering yin energy, traditionally used for heat-regulating, cooling, moisturising and renewing, fights free radicals like a warrior, balances sebum, improves blood flow, and contains 'canangaterpene I', a terpenoid that "exhibits potent antimelanogenesis (melanoma inhibiting) activity" ('Traditional Uses, Phytochemistry, and Bioactivities of Cananga odorata (Ylang-Ylang').

Energetically, Ylang Ylang relaxes the central nervous system and regulates adrenaline flow, so is a fantastic balancer of all extremes: hot/cold, high/low, rage/euphoria, panic/sluggishness, obstinacy/submissiveness, etc etc. Boosts low self esteem, lowers blood pressure, calms nervous tension and deflates stress.

Ylang Ylang is classified as a night flowering tree, the blossoms don’t close during the day, like Jasmin. However, their fragrance is most intense at night, to seduce nocturnal moths into pollination. The aromatic oils recede ‘inside’ at Sunrise to protect the tree from dehydration and elemental damage during the day, and direct their potent concentration outward again at nightfall, when the tree is ‘safe’. Nature sure is amazing.

I've always loved the intoxicating, erotic, voluptuous, uber exotic scent of Ylang Ylang, and am so excited to play this ultra precious essence in our new ELEMENTAL DAY SILK composition. As always, I've unearthed a particularly luxurious Ylang Ylang Extra essential oil of the finest quality: certified organic and traditionally steam distilled in first distillation from night-harvested flowers grown in Madagascar.

In my wanderings I have learned that Ylang Ylang trees are also native to Australia and thrive in sub tropical conditions, so come spring, I'll be planting a couple of these ultimate 'Perfume Trees' on our property. Imagine the scented Summer winds in the valley!
